In 30 starts last season, Darvish had a 3.10 ERA, .207 opponents average, and 197 strikeouts to just 37 walks, which highlights his excellent performance as a pitcher. Darvish is a five-time MLB All-Star who has posted a 95-75 career record with a 3.50 ERA in 242 career Major League starts.

The plan was thwarted when the person solicited to commit the crime alerted the FBI, and subsequent planning meetings were recorded. The defendants were found guilty of conspiracy to kidnap, with a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.

Trenelle Cannon, who pleaded guilty to one count of Conspiracy to Interfere with Commerce by Robbery in April admitted to have a leading and organizing role in the robbery, including providing the gun used and actively working to sell the stolen merchandise afterwards. Cannon, a member of the O'Farrell Park Criminal Street Gang, along with other individuals agreed to rob the store at gunpoint.
