1. Second Downtown Loyalty Sale to Support Small Businesses in San Diego

    The Downtown San Diego Partnership is launching the second phase of the Downtown Loyalty sale at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 15 to promote the economic and cultural vitality of Downtown San Diego and create immediate support for struggling businesses. Customers will have a chance to select from a limited supply of gift cards from nearly 50 restaurants, retail, and coffee shops in Downtown San Diego. Each $25 purchase of a gift card also comes with a free $10 bonus from philanthropic fundraising, creating $35 total of direct revenue for Downtown businesses that can also be used toward a great Downtown experience.

    The Downtown San Diego Partnership teamed up with the Regional Task Force on the Homeless for the WeAllCount event, an annual survey of the city's homeless population. Over 100 volunteers, including elected officials and community leaders, gathered at 4 a.m. to survey homeless individuals in Downtown San Diego. This year's survey marked the first time that surveys were conducted entirely electronically.

  5. Downtown San Diego Partnership Backs Yes! For A Better San Diego Initiative

    The Downtown San Diego Partnership's board of directors voted unanimously to support the Yes! For A Better San Diego initiative aimed at addressing homelessness, improving streets, and expanding the San Diego Convention Center. The initiative proposes a forty-two-year increase to the City of San Diego's visitor tax and is forecasted to generate $3.78 billion to expand the San Diego Convention Center, $2.02 billion for homelessness services, and $604 million for street improvements.

    The Downtown San Diego Partnership has announced the appointment of Betsy Brennan as its new President and CEO. Brennan is a New York native with extensive experience in business and economic development, quality of life initiatives, public relations, marketing, fundraising, and political advocacy. Brennan is excited to lead the Partnership and work together with the board of directors, staff, residents, business owners, government officials, civic and business associations, and tourism industry representatives to further propel San Diego as a world-class destination. Her tenure begins in late February and she will be formally introduced during the Installation Dinner at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel on March 1st.

  7. Free Downtown Shuttle Service Gains Steam, With Zero Emissions
