SAN DIEGO – The Padres have revealed the coaching staffs for their minor league teams for the upcoming 2023 season. The team has made some changes to their coaching staff at the minor league level to help develop young players better.
The Triple-A El Paso Chihuahuas will be managed by Luis Lopez, who served as the minor league field coordinator for the Padres last year. Mark Prior, who was recently promoted to director of pitching for the Padres, will serve as the pitching coach for the Chihuahuas. Jason Barlett will coach the Double-A San Antonio Missions, and former Padres player Freddie Guzman will be the coach for the High-A Fort Wayne TinCaps. Tony Tarasco will manage the Single-A Lake Elsinore Storm, while Jonathan Mathews will take charge of the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League team.
The new coaching staff is expected to help develop the Padres' minor leaguers into future stars for the team, following a disappointing year in the 2022 season. The Padres are hoping for a better year in 2023 with the help of their new coaching staff at the minor league level.
