Padres chairman, Peter Seidler, released a statement today expressing deep sadness over the passing of Padres Hall of Famer Nate Colbert, who passed away yesterday at the age of 75.
Colbert was an original member of the Padres in 1969 and became a trailblazer in the San Diego sports community. He was a three-time National League All-Star while playing for the Padres and still holds the record of being the Padres all-time home run king, with a total of 163 home runs.
In addition, Nate was devoted to serving his community off the field, dedicating his time to disadvantaged youth through his ministry. He was a magnetic person whose presence will be dearly missed by players, fans, and his community.
Our hearts go out to his wife, Kasey, and the entire Colbert family at this very difficult time. Padres fans everywhere join us in mourning this great loss.
