If you are a dedicated San Diego County resident with sound judgment, the San Diego Superior Court wants you to apply to serve on the 2023/2024 San Diego County Grand Jury. The Grand Jury is responsible for investigating citizen complaints and ensuring that government agencies are operating transparently and efficiently. This year's application period is open through January 20, 2023.
Applications can be downloaded from the San Diego Superior Court’s website, sdcourt.ca.gov, or from the Grand Jury’s website at sdcounty.ca.gov/grandjury. You can also obtain the application materials by calling 619-450-7272 or by visiting any of the three regional centers located throughout the county.
The Grand Jury consists of 19 members who will work four days a week for approximately six hours a day from July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2024. A small stipend per day, plus mileage and downtown parking, will be provided.
All application forms must be received by January 20, 2023. Qualified candidates will be nominated for a random drawing tentatively scheduled for June 2, 2023. The random drawing ensures that each supervisorial district has equal representation by population.
To qualify for the Grand Jury, applicants must be U.S. citizens who are at least 18 years old, have sufficient knowledge of the English language, and have lived in San Diego County for at least one year prior to selection. All candidates will be required to pass a criminal background check.
