The Padres Holiday Giving Tour is back, and it promises to be bigger and better than ever before. Presented by Gallagher, the much-awaited tour will take place throughout the San Diego and Baja region.
The tour began with the organization’s annual Turkey distribution event and will continue into December, with the Padres supporting various organizations and having a presence at several community events. Padres players, coaches, alumni, executives, staff and broadcasters, along with Pad Squad, the Swingin’ Friar, the Paw Squad and the Padres Volunteer Team, will attend several community events as they help spread holiday cheer.
As part of the 2022 holiday tour, the Padres will partner with the City of Tijuana and IMDET (Municipal Institute of Sports in Tijuana) to host a youth baseball clinic for kids 12 and under. This is the first time the event will be held outside the United States.
Other new events added to the tour this year include the Padres visiting the Ronald McDonald House to bring and serve meals to the families staying there. The Padres will also visit Edgemoor Hospital, where the Paw Squad, the club’s trio of golden retrievers, along with the Friar and Pad Squad, will visit with patients at the hospital.
The Padres Holiday Giving Tour also includes several events from previous years, such as the annual Shop With A Cop event, participating in the Armed Services YMCA’s Operation Holiday Joy event, preparing and serving lunch at Father Joe’s Village, a surprise bike distribution at a local elementary school, hosting a Rally Camps youth baseball clinic at the Jackie Robinson YMCA, hosting a group at the Rooftop Cinema for a special holiday movie screening, adopting a Monarch School classroom and providing gifts for the class, participating in a food distribution alongside the Bomberos de San Diego organization, and sorting and distributing food at the San Diego Food Bank.
Select events during the tour will be open for media coverage with coverage specifics to be distributed at a later date. Additionally, the 2022 Padres roster has donated a postseason share to Monarch School and the San Diego Rescue Mission as part of their charitable contributions.
