The Port of San Diego has recently announced that they will be hosting a public engagement event, inviting the public to provide input for Public Art for Sweetwater Park at the Chula Vista Bayfront redevelopment.
Roberto Salas, a versatile artist, has been chosen to create public art for the future Sweetwater Park, as part of the initiative of Port of Communities project.
The public engagement event invites community members, stakeholders and any other interested parties in engaging with this artwork development process. They will also receive information about the artist’s preliminary concepts for public art at Sweetwater Park, and have an opportunity to provide feedback.
The free event will take place on 23 August, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Bayside Pavilion in Safe Harbor South Bay, 640 Marina Parkway, Chula Vista, California. Attendees can RSVP to reserve their spot using the click here link provided in the Port of San Diego press release.
At the event, attendees will have the opportunity to provide the artist with feedback regarding the preliminary art concepts through written and verbal comments. The public will also have ten days to fill out a survey, which will provide an opportunity for people who are unable to attend the event but still want to provide feedback.
This special public engagement event is invaluable to gather opinions from the public to create public art that accurately represents Sweetwater Park in Chula Vista Bayfront redevelopment, while simultaneously bringing the community to the forefront.
