The Chula Vista Police Department has provided an update on the investigation into the disappearance of May “Maya” Millete, almost nine months since she went missing. In a media advisory released today, the department urged anyone with information about May's disappearance to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
Detectives from the Chula Vista Police Department have been investigating May's disappearance since January 11, 2021, and have been working with a multi-agency working group, including the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS). The police department continues to work daily towards finding the reason behind May's disappearance.
Investigators have interviewed 85 individuals, including family members, friends, neighbors, and witnesses. They have also written 66 search warrants for residences, vehicles, cellular and electronic devices, call detail records, financial records, social media, and cloud data. The investigation has led them to conduct searches in the east Chula Vista area, including 500 Hunt e Parkway.
Larry Millete, May's husband, was named a “Person of Interest” in the case on July 22, 2021, and investigators continue to consider him as such. The department has followed up on every tip or lead received since May disappeared, including over 128 tips on possible locations and reasons for her disappearance.
The Chula Vista Police Department remains the primary point of contact for media inquiries and will continue to provide updates every two weeks. Anyone with information is asked to contact CVPD or Crime Stoppers, no matter how small the detail. The department recognizes the volunteer search efforts and the support of community members who continue to assist in locating May.
