The Chula Vista Police Department has provided an update on the investigation into the disappearance of May 'Maya' Millete, who has been missing since January 11, 2021. Detectives from the department have been continuously investigating May's disappearance and continue to work with a multi-agency working group consisting of the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) to find the reason behind her disappearance.

The detectives are sharing leads and evidence regarding the case with the multi-agency working group. So far, numerous search warrants have been obtained for physical locations, digital evidence, and social media content, and interviews have been conducted with 77 individuals, including family members, friends, neighbors, and witnesses. Over 120 tips have also been reviewed, and searches have been conducted in the area of east Chula Vista to include 500 Hunte Parkway.

Law enforcement officials have also named Larry Millete, May’s husband, as a person of interest in the case since July 22, 2021, and served a gun violence restraining order (GVRO) on him on May 7, 2021. They have also conducted searches at May's home on multiple occasions.

Investigators are reviewing multiple items of evidence and thousands of pages of data in order to find May. Anyone who may have any information regarding May's disappearance is asked to contact San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477 or the Chula Vista Police Department at 619-691-5151.

The department also commended the volunteer search efforts of numerous community members for their support in locating May, and clarified that it will be the primary point of contact for media inquiries and will provide updates every two weeks until significant information or a break in the case occurs in the investigation. Media inquiries should be directed to PIO Lt. Dan Peak at 619-585-5670. A press conference will be scheduled if there is any significant break in the case.
