The Chula Vista Police Department provided an update on the investigation into the disappearance of May "Maya" Millete, following her disappearance on January 11, 2021.
Since then, detectives from CVPD have continuously investigated the case, while working together with the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS). The primary goal of these agencies is to find the reason behind Maya's disappearance.
Detectives have searched physical locations, digital evidence, and social media content by means of numerous search warrants. They have also conducted interviews of witnesses and have received tips from the local community and around the country. The investigators pursued every tip or lead that they have received.
The investigators followed up on approximately 110 tips related to Maya's location or reason for disappearance, and most recent tips continue to include possible sightings of Maya in different areas of the country. Based on investigative leads, law enforcement also conducted searches in the area of east Chula Vista to include 500 Hunter Parkway.
Investigators continue to review multiple items of evidence and have gone over thousands of pages of data in the hopes of finding Maya. They have also reviewed evidence from the most recent search warrant served at Maya's home on July 1, 2021. Investigators from the Chula Vista Police Department remain in frequent communication with members of Maya's family, providing updates on the status of the investigation.
While the investigation continues, the Chula Vista Police Department recognizes the volunteer search efforts and the support from numerous community members assisting to locate Maya. The department will continue to provide updates every two weeks until significant information or a break in the case occurs in the investigation.

Authorities ask that the public shares any detail regarding Maya's disappearance with investigators or Crime Stoppers, no matter how small the tip or information may seem. If a significant break in the case occurs, authorities will release a media advisory through normal communications and schedule a press conference for media access.
