The Downtown San Diego Partnership, a membership organization that supports development and economic growth, has announced the hiring of Carey Algaze as its Vice President of Economic Development and Land Use. Ms. Algaze brings a wealth of experience to the role, including a Master of Science in Real Estate and degrees in Urban Studies and Sociology.
In her previous role as Director of Planning and Entitlements at Pacifica Companies, Ms. Algaze managed a high volume of ground-up development projects, from acquisition through completion. Prior to that, while working in the public sector for the County of San Diego’s Department of Planning and Land Use, Ms. Algaze focused on working collaboratively with communities to navigate zoning codes, permitting processes, and entitlements.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ms. Algaze to our team,” says Partnership Chairman Craig Benedetto. “Her expertise and community-building skills will be invaluable to us as we work to advance our mission of enhancing Downtown San Diego’s quality of life through sustainable and innovative economic development and land use practices.”
Ms. Algaze will begin her new role on July 16, 2018, and will be responsible for implementing the Partnership’s vision for San Diego’s evolving urban core, with a focus on land use, entitlements, placemaking, and economic growth. The Partnership serves nearly 400 members and 11,000 property owners in San Diego’s downtown area, with a mission of supporting development, stimulating business and economic growth, and advocating for improvements that enhance the urban core’s quality of life.
