The historic USS Midway is set to host the third annual “Stretch Yourself with Scripps” yoga class on July 16, 2016, kick starting Comic-Con International 2016. The “Healthy Living in the City” programme organised by the Downtown San Diego Partnership and Scripps Health aims to highlight the healthy lifestyle options available in Downtown San Diego. The hour-long class will be led by instructors from Yoga One, a popular Downtown yoga studio. Yoga practitioners of all ages and levels are encouraged to attend.

In addition to the yoga class, there will be giveaways, information, and healthy snacks provided by 20th Century Fox, Lululemon Athletica, The West Bean Coffee Roasters, Essentia Water, Sol Cal Café, Bitchin’ Sauce, HP Movement and KIND Snacks. Local artist DTO will provide live entertainment before and during the class.

Kris Michell, President and CEO of the Downtown San Diego Partnership, said yoga is an excellent physical and mental workout for people of all ages and believes the USS Midway offers a serene and beautiful venue for the annual event. Last year's yoga class on the USS Midway drew over 700 attendees and this year, over 1000 participants have already registered.

Participants can register on site at the USS Midway located at 910 N. Harbor Drive starting at 7 a.m. However, pre-registration is encouraged and is available online. Attendees should bring their own yoga mat. Free, metered street parking is available before 10 a.m., while $10 parking is available at the USS Midway.

This year, Superhero is the theme, so participants are encouraged to dress as their favourite superhero. The “Healthy Living in the City” initiative provides free cooking classes and yoga practices throughout the year at various locations in the Downtown community.
