The Downtown San Diego Partnership and Scripps Health are once again bringing yoga to the USS Midway as part of the second annual “Healthy Living in the City” initiative. On June 20th at 8 a.m., Yoga One instructors will lead participants through an hour-long class on the flight deck of the USS Midway.
This free event is designed to promote healthy living in Downtown San Diego and highlight the many wellness options available in the area. Participants of all yoga levels are encouraged to attend and can expect giveaways and healthy snacks from Scripps Health and Fol Cal Café.
Kris Michell, President and CEO of the Downtown San Diego Partnership, believes that this unique opportunity to practice yoga on the USS Midway should not be missed. Last year’s event drew over 400 yoga enthusiasts from the region, and this year’s event is expected to draw an even larger crowd.
Don Stanziano, Scripps corporate vice president of marketing and communications, is excited about partnering with the Downtown San Diego Partnership to promote healthy living in Downtown San Diego. “We want to show that you can adopt a healthy lifestyle no matter where you live or work and Downtown San Diego is no exception.”
Participants can register on site at the USS Midway starting at 7 a.m. or in advance at yogaonmidway.com. Free, metered street parking is available before 10 a.m. and $10 parking is available at the USS Midway. Participants are asked to bring their own yoga mats.
The “Healthy Living in the City” initiative offers free cooking classes and yoga instruction throughout the year at various locations in the Downtown community.
